How Much Does a Website Cost in Jordan? An Honest Breakdown
Ask five agencies in Amman what a website costs and you will get five numbers, sometimes an order of magnitude apart. That is not because someone is lying. It is because website is a word that covers everything from a one page template to a custom ecommerce platform. Here is an honest breakdown of what the market actually charges, what you get at each level, and where the traps are.
Why Prices Vary So Much
The price of a website is mostly the price of time and thinking. A template site reuses design decisions someone already made. A custom site makes those decisions for your business specifically: your positioning, your customers, your content. Copywriting, photography, SEO structure, and performance work each add real hours. When a quote seems impossibly cheap, one or more of those is missing, usually the thinking.
The Three Tiers You Will Encounter
DIY builders (roughly 100 to 300 dinars a year). Wix, Squarespace, and similar tools. Genuinely fine for testing an idea or a very simple presence. The costs are your own time and a ceiling on speed, SEO control, and distinctiveness that you hit sooner than expected.
Freelancer template builds (roughly 300 to 1,500 dinars). A developer customizes an existing theme with your logo, colors, and content. Quality varies enormously. The good ones deliver solid value. The risk is less the build than what surrounds it: no copywriting, no SEO structure, and often nobody reachable a year later when something breaks.
Studio custom builds (roughly 1,500 to 8,000 dinars and up). Strategy, copy, design, and development done for your business from scratch, with performance and search visibility engineered in rather than bolted on. Ecommerce, booking systems, and multilingual sites push the range higher. This tier makes sense when the website is a revenue channel, not a formality.
The Hidden Cost of a Cheap Website
The most expensive website is the one that does not work. A site that loads slowly, reads like a template, and cannot be found on Google does not just fail to bring enquiries, it actively sends comparison shoppers to competitors who look more credible. The gap between what you paid and what you needed does not disappear, it comes out of your sales, quietly, every month. We wrote about the fix separately: why sites get visitors but no enquiries.
Ongoing Costs Nobody Mentions in the Quote
- Domain: roughly 10 to 20 dinars a year.
- Hosting: from a few dinars monthly for simple sites to much more for busy stores.
- Professional email on your own domain, which does more for credibility than most design choices.
- Maintenance: essential for WordPress. See why care plans exist.
Questions to Ask Before You Hire Anyone
- Who writes the copy? If the answer is you send us the text, budget for the site to stall there.
- Will I own everything: domain, hosting, files, and logins?
- What loads when I open it on a phone with average mobile data?
- What happens after launch: who fixes things, and what does that cost?
- Can I see live sites you built, not mockups?
Any serious builder answers all five without flinching. Our answers are on the services page, and the honest scoping conversation is free.
